Toluene is a multi purpose industrial solvent which is a benzene derivative.Due to its non polar nature it has a vast application in various fields.
Toluene as a paint thinner 
Toluene is a great paint thinner specially for stubborn oil based paints.It can be used to remove paints from brushes, rollers, equipment and surface. Not only that but also it can be used to reduce the viscosity of paint so as to ease the application of paint or to convert it into a separable form.Paints generally harden pretty easily when exposed to the atmosphere which makes painting a tedious and cumbersome process, so as to prevent this from occurring we can add toluene periodically so as to maintain the consistency of paint.For achieving the best paint and thinner mixture paint and thinner should be mixed in the ration of 4:1 this ideal ratio will keep the quality of the mixture perfect for application and not deteriorate its quality.But if the paint has to be sprayed do add a generous amount of thinner so that it doesn't clog into the nozzle.
