Biological Guard

Biological Guard is an amine-based dispersing cleaner used to control both marine growths of shellfish, micro-organisms, algae, mussels, barnacles, etc and fungal growth in water cooling systems. It acts like a corrosion inhibitor due to its molecular film forming properties. The liquid should only be diluted with fresh water as it helps in preventing the growth of the organisms when used on a clean system and also removes the already existing organisms.

It acts like a cleaning agent and formulated to prevent the growth of bacteria, larvae, fungi, etc. It is economical and reduces the time as do not require any special techniques and instruments. It controls biological corrosion and the growth of micro-organisms. It is preferred to start the feeding as early as possible i.e. at the suction point of strainer. It gets easily dispersed in all the parts of the seawater cooling system.

Some of the characteristics are that it comes in the form of liquid and easy to use. It contains rubber and thus the water is not suitable for drinking purpose. It is biodegradable in nature and maintains heat transfer in systems. It does not cause any danger to the marine life.

Special instructions to be followed

It causes irritation to skin and eyes. Dilute the solution only in fresh water. Avoid the use of the solution in any food area or on food crop. Clean the entire system and place after the use of this solution. Always wear an apron, long pants, face mask and shoes before using the solution. Washing the affected part with copious amounts of water for about 15 minutes then seeking medical attention. In case of inhalation, get fresh air and if breathing seems to be irregular it is best to seek help. However, after ingestion, induce vomiting if required to get the material out of the stomach, obtain immediate medical help and don’t try to feed anything to the unconscious person. Biological Guard is alkaline in nature and causes irritation when comes in contact with eyes, skin, etc. Thus, wash the affected area with water immediately in case of contact.

Methods for employing the product

Clean the system properly with water and the alkaline solution. Add 0.15-1.5% of the solution in the system by measuring the Nitrite level up to 1400-2500 ppm.  The level of the Nitrite can be controlled by using RXSOL test kit where as Chloride test also detects the excess contamination of the liquid in order to maintain the accepted levels. Moreover, the pH should be maintained at the level 8.3-10 only when the product is dosed as per the recommended limit.
